We look for successful, driven individuals from different backgrounds and careers who are committed to ensuring that all children in New York City receive an excellent education. We look for talented individuals from a broad range of personal and professional backgrounds who are passionate about making a difference in the lives and futures of New York City public school students.
Fellows share a common commitment to raising the academic achievement of children living in poverty. Strong applicants will demonstrate a track record of success in past endeavors, perseverance in the face of challenges, an ability to think critically, a desire to grow professionally, and an openness to collaboration and feedback.
Fellows typically have no prior teaching experience, but possess the skills and attitudes that enable them to become successful teachers in New York City, the largest and most diverse school system in the country. Learn more about who we look for.

The Fellowship Program
Fellows who have been selected to participate in the June 2013 program will begin pre-service training in June 2013 and, upon successful completion of the pre-service training program, will be eligible to be hired at New York City public schools as regular, full-time teachers for the 2013-14 school year.
