Who We Want

No matter your professional background, this work will be your most important job yet.

Our Fellows understand that teaching is a privilege, and a tremendous responsibility. Using the skills and experiences that brought them success in college or their first careers, our Fellows ignite students’ imaginations—and challenge them to dream big.

We are committed to recruiting a teaching force that reflects the diversity of students in New York City public schools. In our 2016 Summer Cohort, 66 percent of Fellows self-identified as a person of color and 44 percent self-identified as black or Latino, compared with 12 percent of teachers nationwide. Additionally, 48 percent of Fellows are recent college graduates, 52 percent are career changers, and 17 percent completed advanced degrees in their field prior to joining the Fellows program.

While each great teacher is unique, Fellows are united by a shared commitment to high standards and the desire to make a profound difference for NYC’s students. More than 9,000 Fellows currently work within the NYC public schools, serving as teachers, principals, and administrators. Join their team and help over 100,000 students each year reach their potential.

NYCTF Bronx Cohort

Many of NYC’s highest-need schools are in the Bronx. We believe students in the Bronx deserve well-resourced schools, qualified teachers, and an education that propels them to success. To accomplish that, we’re recruiting Fellows committed to giving Bronx students the support they need to achieve their goals.

By committing to teach in the Bronx, Fellows enjoy the following benefits:

  • Reduced Tuition: While all Fellows receive a subsidized tuition, Bronx Cohort university tuition in pursuit of a master’s degree is further subsidized.
  • Early Hiring: To meet the high need for teachers before citywide hiring officially begins. Bronx Cohort Fellows will have the opportunity to secure an early hiring commitment from a select group of schools in the Bronx.
  • Networking and Support: Bronx Cohort Fellows will be invited to special school tours, networking events, and hiring events to connect with Bronx principals and hiring representatives.
  • Opportunity for Awards: Eligible Bronx Cohort Fellows may be able to take advantage of award programs like Americorps.

If you would like to join the Bronx Cohort, indicate your interest prior to attending Selection Day.
